When she stops, she still feels those emotions for a few minutes afterwards, and currently cannot control this. If she focuses on too many people at once she can have an emotional overload. When using this ability she can sense how many people are around her.

Strengths:

• intelligent: sometimes knowledge works better than fists, and for a girl that hates to fight, she will more than often use brains over brawn

• analytical: never one to rush into a situation, Kendra will thoroughly think though any plan or situation before going in

• resourceful: anything could be a potential tool to her, which comes in handy with certain situations and problems

• blindness: she can't know a mutant's abilities and advantages over her unless they tell her or she finds out the hard way

Personality:

• Able: Despite her disability, she refuses to let it hold her back, working to complete tasks some would think her unable to, however if something is too much for her to handle, she has no issues asking for help.

• Calm: Unless you know the exact buttons to push, it takes a lot to rustle her jimmies. Even in the most stressful situations she manages to keep her head above water and work things through.

• Clever: Being rather intelligent and quick on her feet, Kendra is much more crafty than her mature and calm demeanour lets on.

• Mature: Though she’s always down to fool around, Kendra gives off an aura of being more mature than most children her age, and it’s not a reputation she’ll turn down. Though she’ll normally let kids get into their own trouble, if they do start to get out of hand she’ll step in. Whether or not they listen to her is another thing.

• Dishonest: If she has to, she’ll lie, normally she can admit when she’s done wrong, but one thing she’ll never do is rat on other students. She won’t be a nark, and will often claim she “didn’t see anything” to those asking.

• Harsh: Kendra isn’t one for self pity, and when she finds someone being unreasonably tough on themselves, she’ll make sure to give them some tough love. However if someone is acting out of line or being incredibly stupid she won’t hesitate to call a kid out.

• Self Destructive: Though she seems to be calm and well adjusted, Kendra sometimes can develop bad and unhealthy habits/ obsessions. It happens very rarely but when it does it’s horrible for her and those around her.

• Spiteful: If someone has done something to wrong her, Kendra will most certainly make sure to get them back for it. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, or the next month, but she is patient, and will wait for the perfect moment. She is fair though, once she has given someone a taste of their own medicine she will leave them be and let it go, she doesn’t hold grudges.

History:

Kendra’s mother, Ariel Hartley, was only 19 when she became pregnant. It was the result of a short lived relationship with a man who failed to mention he carried the x-gene. With the pressure of parents and siblings, Ariel decided she wasn’t going to abort the pregnancy.

It wasn’t long before Ariel found out that her baby carried the x-gene, however when she was born, she carried no visual signs of being a mutant, so thought maybe her baby was just a carrier of the gene. The only issue during the birth was that Kendra was born blind due to nerves in the eyes not developing fully.

With the help of family, Ariel did her best to keep going to College whilst making sure Kendra had everything she needed to learn how to live with her disability from learning to read braille to crossing streets by herself and more.

Growing up legally blind wasn’t easy, since the world seemed to be built for people who could see, but by the time she was 7, Kendra had already proven herself to be a quick learner and rather independent and had little issue finding her way around without her mother’s help.

However, even when she was young, Kendra found she could see in ways beyond hearing and touch. She always seemed to know where people were even if they were in other rooms.

    In school students were awkward around her, not sure how to treat her. Some were bullies, others were nice and would help her out, sometimes to her own reluctance, and of course she had the small group of friends she would eat lunch with.

Kendra found that not only could she ‘see’ people, but she could tell how they felt.

However as much as Kendra used this to understand others, she also used it like the bratty child she was to push buttons, which she became impressively good at.

It didn’t take long for Kendra to figure out she was a mutant, but since her powers seemed to be borderline useless she kept it to herself, wanting to go unnoticed by schoolmates, family, and other adults. She would rather focus on learning without the discrimination. It was hard enough being  blind, she didn’t want to add ‘mutant’ to the mix.

Finally when she turned 11, Kendra decided to come out to her mother as a mutant. Her mother was shocked and worried, but seemed to handle it pretty well. In her mother’s eyes, as long as she didn’t have fish gills or flaming skin everything was alright.

Wanting to do what was best for her child, she did her best to find out what she could do to support and help Kendra. Jean Grey’s school was well heard of, and once finding out it covered board, she asked Kendra what she wanted to do.

Deciding that she wanted to better herself and learn more about her powers she agreed to go.

Once there, she was greeted by teachers and papers, and the need to figure out a codename for herself. Thinking she was funnier than she actually was, she first wrote her name in what seemed to be dots (it was actually braille) but was asked to rewrite it with letters. So with that her codename was to be Enigma… but she spelt it wrong, so it ended up being Enygma.

Over the years she learned more about being a mutant, and how to improve upon her powers. However when experiencing all the much more impressive powers of other students, she kept her exact powers a secret, somewhat ashamed of them.

She excelled in all of her classes, gaining a reputation for her knowledge and quick to learn attitude. However when it came to combat, Kendra was more than reluctant to participate. Who could blame her though when there are students and teachers with abilities that could kick her butt to the end of the gym and back?

It took a lot of gentle coaxing and reassurance, but eventually Dr. Trippp convinced her to at least learn how to defend herself. With her reluctance to fight, Kendra became more of a source of intel than a fighter force like other students.

Students were nice to her, and it took a while to get used to the new environment, but with so many new students coming and going, she learned to adapt.

As she nears her final years in the school she still works to learning more and how to control her abilities better, such as not taking on the emotions of others, and being able to focus on certain emotions and people rather than whoever's in the area. It’ll be a hard year.
